Responsibilities: Hires, trains, supervises, and mentors student video assistants on all aspects of video production, including proper camera setups to produce quality video for practices and games, editing scout tapes for coaches, copy and breakdown video with game cutups, offensive/defensive scouting and scouting reports; produces game highlight, recruiting and season end highlight videos; develops content created with graphics and video to build the UNI Football brand; oversees team social media accounts; develops short-form videos, reels, and graphics specifically for alumni engagement; maintains and repairs video equipment; and organizes film trade.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in digital media, film/video production or related field plus at least one year of creative media production and digital content working in an NCAA Division I football program or a professional sports organization (NFL, NBA, MLB, etc.) required. An understanding of the sport of football to video tape correct scouting information, formations and game situations also required. An associate’s degree in a related field plus at least three years of related experience or high school diploma plus at least five years of related experience may be substituted. Experience leading creative direction for high-profile campaigns in college or professional sports; proficiency in advanced storytelling techniques; and/or executing multi-platform content strategies aligned with team goals and audience engagement preferred. Must abide by the rules of the NCAA, the Missouri Valley Conference, the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and the University of Northern Iowa. Non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and team travel as required by the football calendar will be necessary.
