Architect

Responsibilities: Assists in the planning, design, and development of capital projects including managing relationships of consultant teams; coordinates the approval of capital projects through the internal and external stakeholders of the University, the Board of Regents, and State of Iowa; assists in the campus space management process including confirmation of existing inventory and usage; and provides design and project management for campus capital projects including coordinating the work of consulting firms in completion of their scope of services.

Qualifications: At least a bachelor’s degree in architecture plus at least five years of experience in the field of architecture; licensure as an architect in the State of Iowa, or eligibility to obtain licensure within two years of hire; experience in preparing contract documents, specifications, and addenda; experience with construction administration; working knowledge of the International Building Codes and the ADA Standards for Accessible Design; experience in coordination with MEP and structural engineers; experience in budget management and project planning; experience with sustainable construction; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; excellent oral and written communication skills; and strong customer service skills required.
Experience using AutoCAD, Revit, Excel, and Bluebeam; knowledge of higher education and facility/planning needs; and experience in development of project budget estimates and design/construction schedules preferred.
