Academic Advisor
The Office of Academic Advising is seeking to hire two Academic Advisors, each with a distinct focus area. These positions are vital to supporting student success and academic achievement.
- Academic Advisor - Biology and Pre-Health: Provides academic advising and support for upper-level biology majors who are working towards graduation and future career and academic plans. Leads recruitment efforts for the Biology Department, including admissions events and prospective student engagement. Advises campus-wide pre-health majors and pre-health professional exploratory students.
- Academic Advisor - Health and Social Sciences: Provides personalized academic advising and support to first and second-year biology majors, as well as first-year Psychology majors who are transitioning to UNI. Provides academic advising support for pre-nursing students and leads recruitment efforts for the Nursing program, including admissions events and prospective student engagement.

Responsibilities: Serves as a primary academic advisor to an assigned caseload of undergraduate students, guiding students through academic plan development intended to meet academic program, career, or personal goals; provides academic advising to new undergraduates at new student orientation; supports institutional recruitment efforts at on-campus and off-campus events; designs and implements individual outreach and programming to support transition to college and facilitates academic advising, student success, persistence, and retention efforts for targeted groups of undergraduate students; and supports new and ongoing institutional retention, student success, and enrollment management initiatives.
Qualifications: Master’s degree; at least two years of advising or related experience in higher education; and excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills required. Master’s degree in college student personnel or related field preferred. Graduate student experience will be considered.
