Assistant Professor of Instruction, Microbiology

The University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Biology seeks applications for a two-year term Assistant Professor of Instruction position, starting in August 2025. The Department seeks a dynamic and dedicated educator to join the team and contribute to teaching Principles of Microbiology, General Microbiology and Introductory Biology for general education and Biology Majors. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in preparing microbiology lab materials and will participate in departmental activities. The standard teaching load in the Department is 12 total classroom/prep/lab contact hours per week. For more information on the Department of Biology visit chas.uni.edu/biology.
 
Required Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in microbiology or a closely related field; proven ability to teach lectures and labs in microbiology, introductory biology and non-majors biology; and competence in preparing lab supplies and managing laboratory equipment required. Prior teaching experience in courses relevant to this position at the university level and research experience in microbiology or related fields preferred.
