Assistant/Associate Professor, Instructional Design & Learning Technologies

The University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Division of Learning Technologies, seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor, starting in August 2025. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in instructional design and learning technologies; conducting research; participating in department/university initiatives; developing curriculum; contributing to a collegial team environment; advising graduate students; and serving on masters/doctoral-level committees. 
 
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or a closely related field; proven record in designing engaging and effective online and in-person learning experiences tailored to adult learners using innovative instructional design strategies; demonstrated experience facilitating training, professional development, or learning experiences for adult learners; active involvement in professional organizations related to the field; excellent interpersonal skills, including collaborating effectively as a team with diverse individuals; and at least three years of experience in instructional design and development required.
 
Preferred Qualifications: Active research agenda and scholarly productivity; working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning; experience using gaming, coding, virtual/augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and global collaboration in an educational environment; background using Quality Matters or similar frameworks/certifications; demonstrated record of innovation; digital presence that showcases an understanding of digital communications, tools, methods, resources, and industry trends; ability to develop partnerships with industry and community organizations; experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and research; and ability to provide the vision and the development of the master’s degree program in alignment with educational and industry needs preferred. 
 
UNI’s Learning Technologies division features faculty who work collaboratively to offer doctoral, master, and undergraduate educational programs. In addition, the division offers a newly updated master's program in Instructional Design and Learning Technologies, targeting adults in educational, professional, and industrial environments to launch in Fall 2025, as well as three graduate certificate programs.
