Paraprofessional-Child Development Center
Responsibilities: Supports the creation of a safe, positive, and engaging environment for learning and development and assists with the student’s intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and behavioral growth; under the direction of the classroom teacher, supervises a student (classroom, playground, gym, hallway, bus loading/unloading area, field trips, and such other supervisory functions may be assigned); works with individuals with special needs, which may include following and contributing to, but not be limited to, Individual Education Plans (IEP), Individual Health Plans(IHP), and 504 disability accommodation plans; lifts, carries, or correctly positions students with physical disabilities when necessary; assists English Language Learners (ELL) whose first language is other than English; assists the student with their dietary needs, including feeding, escorting the student to the restroom, helping them with toileting/diapering when needed, and attending to their hygiene needs; and may be assigned other duties and responsibilities appropriately determined by the building director, including, but not limited to, participation in professional development.
This position is temporary and will require the candidate to work with a student in two different settings:
- School Year Schedule: The student attends preschool in the morning, and the paraprofessional provides support at the child care center in the afternoon. On days when schools are closed, including weather-related closures, the paraprofessional will assist while the child is in the center, which may include mornings.
- Summer Schedule: This position will transition to full-time hours during the summer, with responsibilities at the child care center.
- The position will end when the child ages out of the center or the family discontinues services.
