Responsibilities: Provides financial, academic, personal, and career counseling for Talent Search participants; assesses students' needs and prepares Participants' Evaluation Plans; familiarizes new program participants with post-secondary institution procedures relating to admission, registration, pre-college enrollment, etc.; conducts study and test-taking workshops; and identifies, recruits, and selects participants.
Position will work with schools in the Cedar Rapids area as part of the Cedar Rapids Community Schools Talent Search program.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in education, social services, counseling, or related field plus at least one year of experience in career counseling, advising, or related experience required. Student experience will be considered. Spring 2025 graduates will be considered. Degree must be conferred prior to start date. Occasional evening and weekend work will be necessary. Experience working with individuals from low-income and first-generation backgrounds in an educational setting; and experience counseling low-income and first-generation individuals to enter/re-enter a secondary/postsecondary educational program preferred.
