Amani Community Services

About Us

Amani Community Services is a domestic violence and sexual assault agency providing culturally specific for African Americans in Iowa.

Amani CS was started by three African Americans who saw the need for culturally specific services in their community. Within a year Amani CS opened its doors July 2014. Shortly after our Cedar Rapids office opened. In 2019, Amani Community Services began serving clients statewide. We now have office locations in Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, and Des Moines.

Why Amani Community Services? Culturally specific services uplift the voices and experiences of those who, because of oppression, have been unheard for too long. Culturally specific services are designed to meet the needs of communities that are unserved and underserved. Services are culturally focused; values, behaviors, expectations, norms and worldview of the cultural community are present at every level of service delivery.

Amani Community Services provides personal, legal and housing advocacy, individual and group counseling, prevention services, children and teen programming, and information and referrals. All of our services are free and confidential.
