Laboratory Specialist - Nursing and Public Health

Primary Function: Manages classroom and simulation laboratory preparation to ensure proper setup of equipment and availability of supplies for nursing instructional laboratories; collaborates with faculty on the development and implementation of laboratory and simulation learning activities; provides technical assistance to nursing faculty and students, including preparation and maintenance of simulation equipment, task trainers, clinical supplies, and instructional technologies; assists faculty during laboratory and simulation experiences; orders supplies needed for teaching; works to ensure departmental compliance with safety and infection prevention protocols; keeps records and cares for departmental assets; and supervises student employees.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in nursing, biology, health sciences, or a related field; and demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, technology, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in nursing, biology, health sciences, or a related field; current healthcare certification or licensure (e.g., RN, LPN, EMT, Paramedic, Medical Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technician, or similar); experience in patient care, nursing skills laboratories, simulation, or healthcare education; and experience with simulation technologies, instructional equipment, electronic health record systems, audiovisual technologies, and inventory management.
