Job Posting: Head Coach and Assistant Coaching Staff

Bosco Catholic School System is seeking dedicated, faith-filled, and mission-driven Head and Assistant Coaches to support some of our athletic programs. Position Summary:
 The Head Coach and Assistant Coach will lead and support the athletic programs in a manner that promotes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character formation rooted in Catholic values. Coaches will mentor student-athletes while modeling integrity, discipline, and respect both on and off the field/court. The coaching staff will foster a competitive athletic experience that aligns with the mission and philosophy of Bosco Catholic School System.

The Head Coach will oversee the overall direction, organization, and leadership of the program. The Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in practice planning, skill development, supervision, and team management.

Responsibilities:
 • Plan, organize, and conduct practices and competitions
 • Teach sport-specific skills, rules, and strategies appropriate to the grade level
 • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive character development
 • Integrate faith and Catholic values into team culture and interactions
 • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and related activities
 • Ensure student safety and adherence to school, conference, and state guidelines
 • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and administration
 • Monitor academic eligibility and encourage academic success
 • Maintain equipment, uniforms, and program organization
 • Support program development and collaboration within the athletic department
 • Participate in school events and support the faith life of the school community
 • Maintain confidentiality and follow school policies and diocesan guidelines

Additional Head Coach Responsibilities:
 • Provide overall leadership and vision for the program
 • Coordinate schedules, team communication, and program expectations
 • Oversee assistant coaching staff

Qualifications:
 • Previous coaching and/or playing experience is preferred
 • Knowledge of sport rules and age-appropriate coaching techniques
 • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
 • Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills
 • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and families

Preferred Qualifications:
 • Previous coaching experience at the middle school or high school level
 • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
 • Coaching authorization/licensure as required by the State of Iowa
