Assistant Professor of Instruction – Digital Media
The University of Northern Iowa's Department of Communication and Media seeks applications for a one-year, term Assistant Professor of Instruction in Digital Media position, starting in August 2026. We are seeking an excellent teacher with the skills to teach the department’s Digital Toolbox course, which teaches students introductory skills in BOTH digital video and web design, and to contribute to the department’s Digital Media Production and/or Interactive Digital Studies curriculum. The ideal candidate would be equipped to teach students to utilize AI tools in video or web production and to create and disseminate content across different media platforms.
This position requires teaching four courses each semester, including multiple sections of Digital toolbox and other courses in the candidate’s area expertise. There may be the opportunity to create a special topics course in the candidate’s area of interest in the spring semester.
Education Requirement: M.A. in Communication and Media or a related digital media field required. A candidate with a Ph.D. or M.F.A. could also contribute to the department’s graduate program.
Required Qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in teaching and the ability to teach introductory videography and web design required.
Preferred Qualifications: Ability to teach students to use AI tools in video or web production and to create and disseminate content across different media platforms preferred.
