Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt Reports to: Pantry Services Manager Qualifications: The ideal Pantry Services Coordinator for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank understands and is passionate about the organization’s mission to provide nutritious food and grocery product to those in need in our 16 county service area. This team member must demonstrate outstanding customer service skills, passion for helping people and a strong ability to communicate with clients and volunteers to provide optimal experiences for all. The ability to work in a fast-paced and progressive environment will be instrumental to success in this role. This individual will have exceptional organizational, interpersonal and detail-oriented skills, which will be critical for the development of strong services between the Food Bank and the community. Cultural competency is of utmost importance, as the Pantry Services Coordinator will work with diverse populations on a daily basis. The Pantry Services Coordinator must possess a strong sense of initiative, adaptability and flexibility to continually improve the Food Bank’s Cedar Valley Food Pantry program and experiences, and take on other duties as necessary. A passion for social justice and compassion for others are keys to being a staff member at the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. The Northeast Iowa Food Bank strives to work as a unified team to close the meal gap in northeast Iowa, to this end the Pantry Services Coordinator will need to be capable of working as a team, as well as being a self-starter. In addition, maintaining a positive outlook will play a role in being a motivator and encourager for the community, clients, and staff members alike. About the Job: The responsibilities of the Pantry Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following: • Assist the Pantry Services Manager in determining clients’ eligibility for services through the Cedar Valley Food Pantry in accordance with established guidelines and policies. Collect, examine and maintain documents supporting client eligibility, including client database entry. Assist with the completion of intake paperwork and answer questions about Food Pantry policies and processes. • Assist in training and best utilization of volunteers working in the food pantry with the understanding that the Food Bank could not function without our volunteers. • Maintain a warm and friendly atmosphere for pantry clients and volunteers while assisting clients in our client-choice pantry. • Assist with food room supervision, delegating tasks to volunteers and co-workers. • Assist with the receiving, storage, and distribution of food in the Cedar Valley Food Pantry, in accordance with Northeast Iowa Food Bank policies. • Assist with other Food Bank programs and events. • Assist with record keeping of food received and distributed through the food pantry. • Assist with designing handouts and nutrition information including recipes and informational items. • Other duties as assigned. (over) Ticket/Specifications: Required: • At least two years of post-high school education or equivalent experience in customer service • Exceptional oral, written, interpersonal and communication skills • Culturally competent, ability to work with diverse groups and individuals • Ability to work some nights and weekends as client needs are evaluated • Must pass a criminal background check • Proficiency in MS Office software • Ability to perform physical labor as necessary (stand/walk/move for long periods of time, lift up to 50 pounds, work with warehouse equipment) Preferred • 2 or 4 year degree in Social Work or Sociology or Public Health or equivalent experience • Ability to multitask, delegate, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Experience with volunteer management • Creative and innovative Desired • Experience in marketing • Experience in design platforms • Experience with non-profit organizations
