Impact & Responsibilities: Provides legal advice and counsel to University of Northern Iowa (UNI) relating to a wide range of issues involving or affecting the University; manages and supports administrative, state, and federal processes and litigation; facilitates policy formation; works directly with tort claims process and/or university risk management; conducts special examinations as requested; investigates and/or coordinates reports received through EthicsPoint; and supervises Associate Counsel.
 
Requirements: Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited school of law; at least five years of combined experience in education, contract, employment and/or related area of law; strong management and leadership skills; ability to serve as a persuasive spokesperson for the University; exceptional oral and written communication skills; and admission to the Iowa State Bar Association within 12 months of appointment.
 
Preferred: Experience serving clients in higher education or analogous governmental, non-profit, or corporate setting.
