Community Planner

The Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments is seeking a Community Planner II to join our team! The Community Planner will provide planning, zoning, and development assistance to member communities in INRCOG’s six-county region. Typical projects include comprehensive plans, zoning/subdivision ordinances, recreation plans, hazard mitigation plans, housing plans, and grant writing and project management. The ideal candidate will be familiar with public sector planning, have exceptional communication skills, and demonstrate successful performance of professional level duties in community planning and development. The candidate must be informed of local, State and Federal legislation and current issues in community planning and development. A Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Geography, or related field and three years’ experience in municipal or regional planning required. A Master’s Degree in Planning or related field and AICP Certification will receive first consideration.
