The University of Northern Iowa Metal Casting Center is a nationally recognized leader in foundry research, applied technology, and technical business assistance. Two facilities allow us to enhance research and testing. The materials research and foundry focused site is located in the Industrial Technology Center (ITC) on campus at UNI. The Foundry 4.0 Center featuring North America's largest commercially available 3D printer is located at Cedar Valley TechWorks in Waterloo. Our efforts and projects link university-grade research, resources, and students to private sector applications. The Center is adding a Project Engineering Manager to its team.
Impact & Responsibilities: Consults with assigned clients concerning Metal Casting Center and Foundry 4.0 Center services; identifies client needs and interests to determine the nature/extent of Center assistance required; develops, plans and coordinates federal, local or commercial research projects; develops and coordinates chemical, physical and mechanical material testing methods; assists in planning, developing and delivering center programs; plans and coordinates Center operations; participates in the preparation of grant proposals and funding requests; and conducts on-site review of client foundry operations.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in industrial technology, engineering or related field; at least three years of metal casting industry experience. Must be able to work on ITAR restricted programs.
Preferred: Master's degree and exposure to applied research in foundry operations.
