Director, Iowa Waste Reduction Center

The Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) is a nationally recognized organization at the University of Northern Iowa devoted to environmental consulting, assistance, training and education for entities with environmental impact or need.

Primary responsibilities of the Director include: provides leadership and direction to the IWRC staff for programs, projects and initiatives for the safe and economic management of solid waste; pursues applied research and technology transfer opportunities; provides waste reduction and compliance expertise to Iowa small businesses; establishes and directs the administration of budgets for funds for the IWRC; implements the IWRC strategic plan, appropriates funds, contracts and grant funds to maximize their benefits; and coordinates IWRC's efforts with government agencies, solid waste operators, business associations, local and state agencies and other Regents institutions.

Master's degree in business, environmental studies, leadership, sustainability or related field; at least eight years of program management experience in environmental programs and/or sustainability; and experience managing multiple teams to ensure the overall goals of the organization required. Proven record of successfully obtaining grant and contract funding and experience developing relationships with outside entities supporting and assisting in an organization’s goals preferred. Frequent travel will be necessary.
