  • Record keeping for child files and staff are maintained daily as needed.
  • Communicates with DHS licensing staff as needed.
  • Oversees staff and students.
  • Communicates with EPI Accounting Department regarding billing and budget.
  • Reviews the budget with the Child Development Coordinator and C&FS Director quarterly.
  • Creates and maintains an enthusiastic, respectful, and positive work environment- for children, staff (EPI and HCC), students, families and faculty.
  • Ensures all staff files are current and updated with necessary trainings, certificates and documentations.
  • Designs with the Assistant Coordinator and Lead Teachers a curriculum that supports center philosophy and meets children’s needs to maintain a high-quality early education program.
  • Communicates with families regularly.
  • Approves necessary communication letters to families including monthly and weekly newsletters and educational handouts.
  • Advocate for the needs of families, children and youth in the community and workplace.

  • Knowledge of State childcare licensing standards guidelines for childcare centers.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • General word processing and computer knowledge.
  • Must hold or have the ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse, and Universal Precautions Certificates.
  • Ability to pass National Fingerprinting, Department of Human Services (DHS), criminal, and Child Abuse Registry record check.
  • Ability to develop policies, principles, and best practices of childcare.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to create staff schedules and assess staffing needs. 
  • Excellent customer service, public relations skills, and the ability to work with staff, students, the general public, and small children.
  • Projects a positive professional image and respects, develops, and enhances the diversity and uniqueness of staff, families, students, children, and the curriculum.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

 

Qualifications:

  • AA in early childhood, elementary education OR Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood, elementary education with an early childhood endorsement or closely related field (preferred)
  • Meets the 100-point requirements through the Iowa Department of Human Services, which includes a minimum of a CDA or higher in education.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in childcare/education related field.  Related direct work experience with Infant through Preschool age children.
  • Certification in infant, child, and adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and Iowa’s training for the mandatory reporting of child abuse.
  • Must be 21 years old or older.
  • This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record, and the ability to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, the Sex Offender registry, and a criminal history check. 

 

Details:

  • 40 hours a week. 
  • Center is open Monday-Friday 6:30am-5:30pm.
