Assistant Professor, Literacy Education
The University of Northern Iowa’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Literacy Education, starting August 2021, with demonstrated experience in literacy education and demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice through the preparation for preservice and inservice teachers.

Earned doctorate (EdD or PhD) degree in Literacy Education or explicit concentration in literacy education with related degree required.
Required qualifications include demonstrated knowledge base in literacy education with experience working with diverse K-12 populations; expertise in assessment/evaluation in literacy and/or early literacy; demonstrated commitment to community engagement; and demonstrated excellence in, or the potential for excellence in, research on literacy education research that contributes to the national and local discourse and scholarship around literacy education through a clear research agenda.
Preference will be given to candidates with three or more years as a licensed K-12 classroom teacher; experience in working in Title I programs; experience in working with English language learners; experience with program coordination, including student outcome assessments, recruitment, or program evaluation; and demonstrated excellence in online and face-to-face teaching.
