Impact & Responsibilities: Assists with the direction and implementation of research projects and other programmatic activities at the ARCTICenter with a focus on sustainability, community adaptation, economic development, natural resources and population dynamics in the Arctic, Siberia and Mongolia; pursues individual research in sustainability science and/or disciplinary scholarship; conducts applied and methodological research (quantitative, qualitative or mixed-methods) in a highly collaborative setting; collaborates with researchers from other institutions and participates in NSF grant activities; receives training and assists with report and proposal writing; attends ARCTICenter meetings and participates other departmental colloquia and/or related activities as appropriate; and trains and supervises graduate and undergraduate-level students.
 
Requirements: Doctoral or equivalent degree in geography, demography, political science, economics, sociology, Indigenous studies, anthropology or related field, ABD will be considered; at least one year of demonstrated knowledge of Siberia and Mongolia regions including fieldwork; ability to communicate in Russian and Mongolian; and experience with quantitative and qualitative methods.
Student experience will be considered.
 
Preferred: Ability to communicate in one or more Indigenous languages of Siberia or Mongolia and experience with community-based work.
