Position:         Community Educator- Covid Vaccine Program
Salary:             Starting $15.72/hr.
Hours:             Full-Time (40 hrs.), primarily weekdays, some evenings, and weekends
Employment Length: The Community Educator is a temporary position and will be working under a 2-year grant.
 
Background
Amani Community Services is a domestic violence and sexual assault agency providing innovative culturally specific services to African Americans statewide in Iowa. In 2022, Amani CS partnered with other culturally specific agencies to provide culturally responsive vaccine access, education, and services to their communities.
Job Summary
Community Educator works within the African American community to oversee, coordinate, and execute communications related to activities within the vaccine program which include the following: educational materials, development of outreach toolkits, community outreach, facilitate trainings, and hosting pop up clinics.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate conversations with community engagement coordinators to determine types of program templates and educational materials to develop
  • Host and/or support pop-up/mobile vaccination events or clinics
  • Develop and facilitate community trainings regarding COVID prevention, education, and access to resources
  • Create communications templates and workflows (i.e. press releases, flyers, etc.) for partner toolkits
  • Coordinate photography and videography needs for vaccine outreach events and clinics across the state
  • Track and update the vaccine outreach event and clinic calendar.
  • Maintain partnerships current with partners across the state
  • Track communications outcomes for grant funding on a monthly basis
  • Develop monthly content for the vaccine program newsletter
  • Develop a social media campaign for the vaccine program
  • Other duties as determined by the CEO of Amani Community Services
 
Additional Duties
  • Prepare monthly paperwork in a timely manner as well as keeping accurate records of travel, expenses, and certification paperwork
  • Participant in staff meetings, conferences, and other meetings as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned by the CEO/Executive Director
Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or a related field.
  • Be willing to submit to a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Desire to empower families from diverse cultures and backgrounds and to work with multi-ethnic survivors
  • Possession of a current and valid Iowa driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance
  • Competent with computers, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher), and general office tasks
