Union Block Book Club: The Anxious Generation

    The Union Block Funders (Black Hawk County Gaming Association, McElroy Trust, Otto Schoitz Foundation and the Waterloo Community Foundation) are excited to invite you to participate in a learning opportunity with us.  The mental health of young people has become a growing concern in recent years, and we hope to provide time and space to explore this topic together.  

    We’re going to dive into Jonathan Haidt’s insightful work, The Anxious Generation: How Today's Young People Are Struggling with Mental Health. In this thought-provoking book, Haidt explores the rising mental health challenges faced by young people, offering a critical examination of how societal shifts, technology, and cultural pressures have shaped their experiences.  

    Details of the Book Club: 

    • Book: The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt 

    • Discussion Format: Informal yet insightful discussions, with an emphasis on building community connections and learning.  

    • Meeting times: Tuesdays, 3:00 p.m.  

    • February 4th (Introduction & Part 1)  

    • February 11th (Part 2)  

    • February 18th (Part 3)  

    • February 25th (Part 4 & Conclusion)
