Elks Club of Waterloo to Celebrate its 100th Anniversary with a Prohibition Party on New Year’s Eve

Waterloo Community Service Organization to Celebrate its 100th Anniversary with a Prohibition Party on New Year’s Eve

The Elks Club of Waterloo is hosting a unique New Year’s Eve event themed around Prohibition to take place in the Club’s Brass Lounge (“Speak Easy”). This celebration marks the 100th anniversary of the Club's purchase of its current building and its dedication in 1924, during the height of Prohibition (1920 to 1933). The event is open to both members and non-members and their guests providing an opportunity to experience one of downtown Waterloo’s most elegant and well-preserved buildings and event centers.

The event will provide the ambience of the 1920s, featuring period music, and special Prohibition-era drinks. Period attire—while it’s optional, is encouraged. Complimentary champagne will be available at midnight. While Reservations for the Brass Lounge are encouraged, it is not required. The festivities in the Brass Lounge will begin at 8:00 p.m. The door on the building’s North end will be available for entry directly into the lounge. There is no cover charge or entry fee for this event.

For those interested in dining before the celebration, Gatsby’s restaurant will open at 5:00 p.m. Reservations for dining are strongly recommended.

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) is a multipurpose nonprofit organization dedicated to community service, supporting veterans, and offering youth programs and fellowship. It is open to everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or other factors.

Individuals, groups, or businesses looking for a way to give back to the community and connect with fellow members are encouraged to inquire about membership and discover its many benefits. For reservations and additional information, please call (319) 234-7568.
